A LITTLE CLARITY GOES A LONG WAY

From good work to a clear invoice.

A practical guide to what Billora does, what you need to supply, and what happens after you download.

Choose the right invoice type

Use a GST tax invoice for a registered supplier issuing an ordinary domestic taxable invoice. A simple invoice leaves GST off. Billora supports INR and ordinary domestic supplies without reverse charge or cess. Exports, SEZ supplies, exempt/composition bills of supply, credit notes, and e-invoice registration need a workflow appropriate to those transactions.

Start with the details

Add the supplier and recipient names and addresses, GSTINs where applicable, a unique invoice number, invoice date, line item descriptions, quantities, units, HSN/SAC codes, and applicable tax rates. You are responsible for invoice numbering and the correctness of supplied codes. The CBIC CGST Rules, Rule 46 describe tax-invoice particulars. Check current amendments and requirements for your business.

Place of supply determines the split

When supplier location and the chosen place of supply are in different states or union territories, Billora calculates IGST. For the same location, it splits the GST rate equally into CGST and SGST, or UTGST for applicable union territories. The buyer’s postal address alone does not establish place of supply. Determine the correct place under the applicable rules.

Know the rounding policy

Quantity supports three decimal places. Unit rates and percentages support two. Billora rounds each line’s gross amount to paise, rounds its discount, and then rounds each applicable tax component independently to paise. The totals add those values. Optional invoice rounding rounds the payable total to the nearest rupee and displays a separate round-off adjustment. Different accounting systems can use a different rounding policy; reconcile before issuing.

GSTIN and code checks have limits

Billora checks GSTIN structure, the checksum, and its state prefix. This does not confirm that a GSTIN is registered, active, or belongs to the named business. HSN/SAC inputs are checked for 4, 6, or 8 digits only, not for classification accuracy or the number of digits required for your business. Verify registration, classification, tax rate, and eligibility independently.

PDFs and payment QR codes

The PDF is generated in your browser with embedded fonts and selectable text. It supports Latin and Devanagari text; unsupported characters should be replaced before export. A signature space is provided, but the file is not digitally signed. The optional UPI QR points to the entered payee and balance amount. It is not an IRP-signed e-invoice QR, an IRN, or evidence of payment.

Import and keep your work

Use the supplied CSV template to import up to 100 line items. CSV import replaces the current line items after you confirm. JSON draft backups contain the full editable invoice, and stay wherever you save them. “Save on this device” stores up to 20 drafts in this browser; nothing syncs to a server.
